The Full Moon was flickering - its round full light sculpted by racing clouds and moving leaves of trees as the weather system shifted with an anticipated change to rainy and cool conditions..... August. Our weekly session was ushered in by a Full Moon Out Bush Camp Out.
Along with a simple camping kit and delicious food, we settled in to our 'home-space' in bushland above Little Paradise Falls. The Full Moon was flickering - its round full light sculpted by racing clouds and moving leaves of trees as the weather system shifted with an anticipated change to rainy and cool conditions. Gazing out at the show of light and shadow we caught up on the everyday, and conversation meandered on occasion to the full moon above. We pondered the impact of the moon cycle upon us. Leaving lots of room for not-knowing, and allowing opportunity for gentle, sometimes difficult to describe 'knowings', we shared stories including that of the impact of the Moon upon the Tide. The reality of this phenomena somehow gave permission, validation, the 'of course it must be so' that our body and selves would be influenced by the Moon phases. For me I mostly have a subtle, openness to possible impacts and links to the Full Moon (and other broader cycles and influences for that matter), but I tend to leave it open-ended and largely undefined. Often weaving in gentle possibilities for knowing, or retrospective awareness of the cycles of body and moon combining, as was the case over these past few days. It must be said that this weeks nature meditation came in the midst of my own cycles. Of energy, of being and of menstruation. I had been tired, inward, restful. Renewed by gentle connection - things like sitting on our veranda couch, in the sun, sewing; gentle asana; a walk in preference to a run; yoga nidra a-plenty. [And yet, I couldn't have told you when my period was a-coming (Perhaps my preference is to keep a vagueness of knowledge in this particular cycle)]. Anyway, formal ceremony for the evening was set to the side in favour of our weaved in conversations, acknowledgements and then early sleep. We slept out in the light night, only a few drops of rain to wake us in the morning. Breakfast, conversations, sunlight on raindrops. We started our Nature Meditation session under a complete white cloud sky - mirroring the full moon whiteness of the night before. Our practice was a lunar-energy-infused, yoga-inspired seated practice (see link below for a similar session). Yoga mats nestle on individual flat rocky ledges, looking out over the landscape. We journeyed down to the Falls themselves. On way we continued our greetings to the guardian rocks, trees and entrance space. Requesting and letting know of our quiet sacred wish to sit and share the space. And then we simply sat, witnessing the noise of the falls, the wind whipping the branches of trees as it signalled the change of weather and beginning of rain. To finish, we simply felt the connection of our seated bodies on the earth and released, physically each outward breath softening. Our being resting in the safe hands of the earth itself. It is said that the phase of the full moon can be a time to 'release', and this we did in a place of deep connection, allowing and support. We completed our cycle by walking back up the hill, out in the rain. Gathered our belongings. Headed home. And that afternoon, in the midst of a wonderful healing conversation with a friend - yep unbeknownst to me until that very second, my blood waters began to flow.
